There could probably no better title to describe this process except for the title itself. The Blooming. A trial of growth. I felt the "Blooming" elements were very much a part of making the film as well as evident in the film. There were so many miracles that made this film possible and bloom into what it is.
This film is more than just a movie. Its a message and an art. So many times films are just daily entertainments to kill a few hours. But so much can be said in those few hours that has the potential to change the way someone thinks or maybe even help them in life to make it a little better. This film is a great example of how film is a medium or art. Many creative minds took a huge part in making it what it is. Costumes, Hair, Music, Sound, and etc. all play a huge significant part in making a movie. More than anything is the decisions that have to be made. And that in a way is really what it is, - A huge process of decision making. For example take the screen shot next to this post. Joshes costume took many decisions through color, where his eye patch will go, what hangs from his bandanna how does it effect the overall look of the costume does it fit in to the setting, is it distracting? does it draw too much away from the situation? And then through camera, decided the angle, and how close or far away shoot from. And with music what sounds will take away from the performance, what notes will aid to his emotions. There are so many decisions that have to be made for every single moment, and all those decisions are artistically put together to create the final product.
Ive actually been thinking of writing a book about the experiences I've had over the past few years and of what Ive learned. Through performing in high school shows and the process of making two films from starting with nothing but a camera in my hand. Ive come to a grand conclusion that there is a big term that can define what we are. More than the basic definition of actors, directors, filmmakers, tailors, composers, writers, and artists. . . we are all Storytellers. If I was without a camera and back in the medieval ages I would still be tellings stories orally infront of a fire. So through this I conclude that more than any other title. We are storytellers. We tell stories to inspire, to fill hope, to make people feel things they have never felt before, to make people dream of things that they would never imagine, to make the impossible that much more possible. Conductors speak this language through every note on the staff, a tailor speaks it through every fabric that is touched, an actor expresses it through every movement that is portrayed, a writer with every letter, a filmmaker with every angle. We all are expressing ourselves and creating ideas, thoughts and stories. I wouldn't rather do anything else for the rest of my life than tell stories. And we all still have many stories that are waiting to be told through many mediums.
The Blooming is a story of faith, choices, family and friendship. It was greatly inspired by my life personally and the lives of people very close to me. There is a tolerance more than anything that I think must be built. I have seen many things be effected and broken about because of a lack of tolerance and understand of one other. Sometimes specifically because of someones beliefs. I am tired of seeing this destruction of love for another because one believes " butter side up" and the other "butter side down". I do not like seeing discrimination because of anthers beliefs. Troceed refused the Blooming cause he felt a spiritual calling deep down inside, and decided to follow it. Because of his decision he ended up being tied to the earth. Who gets the final say on what is right? and what is wrong? Cause there cannot be one without the other. Like there can be no dark without the absence of light. It is my grand mission to make this spiritual tolerance possible throughout this world because I feel it is a major step in a movement towards love, understanding, and peace. We all have our own unique connection with the unseen and powers beyond the world. And I think it is beautiful to say that each of us can have our own. I think the best church is the one you attend in your heart. A personal faith within. To see without using your eyes.
The adventure of making the blooming is truly unforgetable experience as it opens new opportunities, and has taught me so much about my craft and the way I live my life. Thank you everyone for participating in this journey of the blooming and making it what it is today. The seed that this story has planted within our hearts is something that will continue to grow and never be forgotten.
